When Jernhusen moved its head office in Stockholm, ambitious goals were set to create an office development with as small a carbon footprint as possible. Maximizing the amount of reuse was one of the keys to success.
Jernhusen is a real estate company specialized in developing and managing properties close to the railway. The move of the head office took place in June 2024 to premises in Stockholm Central Station, a property they own.
Sustainability at the core of Jernhusen's operations
The new location means not only that they are close to their customers, travelers, and partners but also to the railway and public transport. This makes it easier for employees and visitors to travel collectively to and from the office and aligns perfectly with the company's sustainability goals.
One of Jernhusen's key issues is indeed sustainability. Not least in the work to adapt and develop sustainable offices. With a high goal of striving for 100% circular material management in their own office move, Jernhusen demonstrated that it is possible to achieve the same standard as new by reusing materials. Most of the materials could be reused in their entirety, from screws and nuts to drywall, glass partitions, and furnishings.
Regarding the technology for conference rooms and digital meetings, a careful inventory of existing technology at the old office was made. Everything that was in good enough condition to meet the organization's needs was taken down and moved to the new office. In some meeting spaces, some additional new technology was required, and the cabling was replaced with new to ensure safe and stable operation.
The result was a modern and sustainable office, where almost everything in the office carries a story. The fact that the technology for the meeting rooms is reused means that different technology is present in the meeting rooms. But since Jernhusen uses Teams as the platform in all rooms, this is not something that employees need to worry about.
Jernhusen's new headquarters encompasses 1463 sqm of office space and 227 sqm of gym and changing rooms. In addition to the technology in all meeting spaces, we at Logic IT have moved and installed the technology for the workplaces of the approximately 100 employees who are based at the headquarters.
"We have succeeded in creating a cool office"
"We have really succeeded in creating a cool office and are showing the way for how to implement a circular office development. In addition, we are seeing an increase in the number of employees coming to the office, which was also one of the goals of this relocation project."

Henrik Sköldberg, Office Manager Jernhusen
